Weirdest Song Requests We’ve Ever Gotten (Yes, That Happened)

When you’re a DJ at weddings, parties, mitzvahs, and corporate events all across St. Louis, you learn to expect the unexpected — especially when it comes to song requests.
Most of the time, guests ask for bangers that make total sense: Beyoncé, Usher, maybe a little Lizzo. But every now and then, someone walks up to the booth, looks you dead in the eye… and drops the weirdest request you’ve ever heard.
And yes — we’ve played some of them. Others? Not so much.
Here are a few of the weirdest, wildest, and most hilarious song requests we’ve gotten over the years (and why they actually kinda rule).
1. 🎶 “The Chicken Dance” — At a black-tie wedding
We’re in a gorgeous downtown ballroom, uplighting on point, bride in couture — and a groomsman stumbles up to the booth and says:
“Trust me. The Chicken Dance will bring the house down.”
Did it? Not exactly. But the bride’s grandma loved it, and honestly? That alone made it worth it.
2. 🎮 “The Tetris Theme Song” — During cocktail hour
This came from a groom who was way into retro video games. He wanted it mixed in with jazz standards.
We made it happen — Tetris remix + soft lo-fi beats = oddly classy vibe.
3. 🐴 “Old Town Road” – But requested as the couple’s first dance
This couple had a running inside joke about the song, and wanted to surprise everyone by slow dancing to it before breaking into a choreographed line dance. The crowd. Went. Wild.
Sometimes the weirdest requests turn into the best moments.
4. 🤘 “Bodies” by Drowning Pool — At a wedding... during dinner
Yes, someone really walked up and said, “Hey, can you drop 'Let the bodies hit the floor' right now? Like… now.”
We kindly redirected them to the dance portion of the evening.
5. 🕺 “Baby Shark” — At a 40th birthday party
No kids. Just adults. And the birthday girl shouted “DO IT FOR THE MEMES!”You bet we did. The dance moves were legendary (and deeply uncoordinated).
6. 💡 “Play that one song that goes like… duh-duh-duh… something about fire?”
Vague requests are part of the job. Sometimes we actually guess right. (This one turned out to be “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys. Nailed it.)
How We Handle Wild Requests (Without Ruining the Vibe)
As pros, our job is to balance fun requests with flow, energy, and your vision for the event. So when we get something out of left field, here’s what we do:
💬 Check if it fits the moment
✅ Make sure it’s clean/appropriate
🎧 Try to work it in with a creative transition
🙅♂️ Or politely say “Not right now” if it’ll kill the vibe
Our motto? The crowd comes first — but the weirdos keep it interesting.
Got a Weird Song Request? Bring It On.
Seriously — we love when guests throw curveballs (as long as it doesn’t totally derail the party). Whether it’s a meme song, a deep cut, or your weird cousin’s karaoke obsession… we’ve heard it all, and we’re always ready to roll with it.
